MOSCOW, Jun 27 (PRIME) -- The police are searching the offices of car dealer Rolf in Moscow and St. Petersburg, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

“Employees of the Investigative Committee have come today at about 9:00 a.m. to several offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg. They presented an order, our legal team is studying it. According to preliminary information, this order does not concern operations of the company,” the company said.

Company founder Sergei Petrov told Forbes that the search could take place due to his political past. Petrov was a member of the Just Russia party, supported the occupy protests of 2012 and voted against prohibition of children adoption by foreigners and against accession of Crimea.

“The investigation is being made under a case of 2014. As far as I know, they say this is due to asset stripping abroad. This is no surprise to me, this is Russia,” Petrov said.
